Hot Fuzz opening two minutes

The opening few seconds of the Film have not music, an empty building with a long figure marching towards the camera, it soon emerges that it's a police officer, at first this could portray to the audience that the genre is action related around crime, but seconds after, the office (played by Simon Pegg) lifts his ID card close to the camera, and the photograph is identical to his facial expressions seconds before, this could then correct that audiences thoughts and portray that the film is actually a comedy.

As the clip progresses, there is music being played over it and it's a fast paced song. This could suggest suspense in some circumstances but it uses instruments such as a trumpet which is not an instrument used in a piece of music to indicate suspense, so this also indicates that the film is a comedy.

The costumes/props also suggest that the film is a comedy, for example when he is seen riding the bike in the advanced cycling course, he is wearing glasses to keep the wind from his eyes, this is not an everyday thing you associate with the police, plus his facial expression that accompanies the glasses adds to the humor, so this indicates that the genre of the film is a comedy.

Another costume is the fencing outfit you see Pegg wearing when he is running through list of extra vocational activities he has taken part in, again this is not something you relate to the police service, and the switch from what looks like an ordinary Police officer to somebody sword fighting indicates the comedy genre.

The last aspect in the opening two minutes that indicates that the film is a comedy is when Pegg gets stabbed by the man dressed as Farther Christmas. Not only does this scenario just look and sound funny, the fact that the man stabs Pegg in the hand of all places adds to the humor of the clip.
